It’s a sunny day, this June 9, 1815 in Wien, Austria, people can eat outside! The Schönbrunn palace, in the capital’s outskirts, hosts a gala lunch for statesmen arriving from all over Europe. This is a unique occasion and the event – which concludes a nine-months long congress – will leave its mark for a long time: Napoleon is falling, after a brief resurrection since he escaped his exile at Elba, and now the winning coalition is splitting up Europe again. This is the first of a long series of bi- tri- tetra- and multi-lateral meetings that, in the years to come, will keep lots of politicians of all nations busy and – after long talking – will usually leave things as they were before. Anyway, the event is unique, it’s worth a celebration, and when politics are involved there is something to eat for everyone – no one is stepping back! Look the way they all eat…But now follow me in the court of the palace, I’ll tell you more!
