Great excitement around Manchester this morning! The spring of 1835 brings a breath of modernity and innovation to the industrial city par excellence of the North of England. The first railway solve old problems of communication and road, dozens of textile mills and mechanical shops arise in the area, favored by the abundance of coal in the nearby area: the canal dug by the Duke of Bridgewater - now three quarters of a century ago - to transport it from its mines was expanded and connected to the sea, and promotes international trade. Visitors and customers come here from all over the world to admire and buy the products of English industry. But the first Industrial Revolution - we are talking about this, dear friends - not only creates jobs and better standards of life: the exploitation of workers creates tensions and demands, not to mention pollution! Follow me, let's see what happens in this industrious town!
