On the Spaskaja Gate – majestic gatekeeper of the Kremlin – the personal flag of Ivan is fluttering and the guard of honour
is marching through curious and admiring people lined on either side: on this square, with all this available space we’d need a nice mausoleum to stand guard to! Who knows, maybe in a few centuries?
Nearby, close to the walls, well sheltered from the wind, the private enterprise flourishes: enough of those sacks filled with corn leaves - comfortable foam mattresses are now made in a modern plant, for people’s izbas and rich people’s dachas.
Intourist’s carts are parked on the square edge, waiting for the tourists that are wandering under the careful and interested eye of authorised guides.
But - come on !- the cart drivers cannot allow their horses to graze on the Kremlin’s meadows! And they will be forced to change their job, in the near future: look what a marvellous vehicle has just arrived from far off Italy! They call it a tractor, it runs with coal, and will bring a true revolution in the fields, especially in October!
Today he brought, from the farm, exceptional vegetables, obtained from earth treated with a patented steaming machine, as the peasant explains from the cart. All natural stuff, he says, but the priests nearby are not convinced, and are invoking God’s blessing against this diabolical machine!
