Great day, behind the lines! Her Majesty Elizabeth rode
Her white horse till here, to hearten the troops and check
the situation: flanked by Francis Drake, Walter Raleigh
and other members of the Court, escorted by Her dogs and
Beefeaters, She is watching this moulding marvel whos
making the wheels for the guns carriages. The design is
futuristic, the injector is propelled with steam, provided
by a coal-fired boiler (an English must, after all
): this
marvel is worth a poem, and the Courts poet just wrote
one, which he declaims to the workers. But hes not much
appreciated, it seems: maybe in a few centuries?
The modern boiler feeds steam to operate another modern
machine, that makes the cannonballs. They are cast with
aluminium, now: they are lighter, fly farther, and do not
rust when it rains. What do you want more than this?
The host of The Black Bull isnt better off than The Red
Lions one: if all these folks work long hours whos going
to drink the beer? Let us hope that this threat dissolves
quickly, and that people go back to their good old habits.
And let us hope that the bad weather helps the locals: isnt
this all what they always talk about, after all?
Good, if the Spaniards permit, well see each other next
year. Have a good one, in the meantime!
