During the last year, efforts made by Cannon in their R&D activities have born fruit in car seat technology in the form of several orders for turn-key plants from the most important car seat makers in Europe and further afield. Four plants have been successfully commissioned in Brazil, Spain and Germany and Cannon will complete the commissioning of another plant in Italy by the end of the year.
Of course, this sophisticated technology requires a very flexible approach from the supplier in order to meet specific criteria which differ from customer to customer, mainly concerning the wet side. This was not a problem for Cannon, since they are used to customising their products and working closely with the customer to define agreed specifications for their proposals. The basic configurations of the plants installed are as follows:
Plant 1 - Hot Cure production line
5-component high pressure metering unit (Polyol1, Polyol2, Isocyanate plus Activator and Tin); FPL 4/6 mixing head suitable for working with up to 6 components simultaneously; in-line control of the injection pressure into the mixing head for the main components through a dedicated self-adjusting device.
Plant 2 - Cold Cure production line (for the same customer as Plant 1)
6-component high pressure metering unit (Polyol1, Polyol2, Isocyanate plus Activator, Tin and Colour line); FPL 4/6 mixing head suitable for working with up to 6 components simultaneously; in-line control of the injection pressure into the mixing head for all components.
These two lines have both been interfaced with a plant already in place at the customers site; a third installation has been purchased by the same customer for their production line in Brazil.
Plant 3 - Turn-key plant comprising:
4-component high pressure metering unit (Polyol1, Polyol2, Polyol3 and Isocyanate); 3-axis manipulator; FPL 4/6 mixing head working with 4 components; 20 station oval carousel complete with mould-carriers; production statistics control.
Plant 4 - Turn-key plant comprising:
2 two-component high pressure metering units; 3-axis manipulator; FP2L mixing head, suitable for working with 2 different formulations with zero-changeover time; 22 station oval carousel complete with mould-carriers; production statistics control. The carousel equipped with 22 mould carriers allows a production of seat cushions respectively back seats, which can be manufactured individually by means of individual temperature control conditioning systems and process parameters.
In connection with well-known and reliable driving systems for the carousel and high efficient double-arm mixing head robots, shortest cycle times are possible. The well-known Cannon "A-System 60 Pro" dosing machines and a computerised control allow for the shortest production set-ups and modifications in the process parameters as well as their recording for all quality-control purposes.98/023
