BONO ARTES confirms its capability to integrate heterogeneous elements still maintaining an adequate global vision.
To continue to meet the needs of an ever demanding market that requests increasingly better reliability and quality of services, BONO ARTES has further developed its own know-how with regard to Integrated Control that efficiently satisfies all the needs in terms of control and industrial automation.
The combination of technology for the control and distribution of energy, integrated with Industrial Automation Systems, allows BONO ARTES to offer a range of products and services that guarantee quality, competitiveness and reliability.
The Demineralisation plant supplied to Ansaldo Energia for the “Naples Levante” Thermolelectric Power Plant, designed to produce 11 m3/h of demineralised water, is an example of automatic control where the control, supervision and interconnection ensure the highest degree of reliability and flexibility together with elevated safety standards.
In Napoli Levante, the automatic running of the plant is ensured by a “PLC” (programmable logic control) system in a redundant configuration where all the hot components of the system (power supply, cpu, field bus and input/output peripherals) are double; in the event of “fault” of any of these components the spare one automatically enters into operation within 30 milliseconds without any effect the entire system.
Another interesting aspect of the automatic control system of the Napoli Levante Demi Plant is the decentralised development of the input/output peripherals that are not installed on a single board but on many smaller boards housed on the single equipment. This is possible through the use of intelligent i/o terminal boards that collect the data for transmittal to the control unit. The communication protocol is “profibus”; all the data are transmitted via a simple shielded two-wire cable, even here double, to avoid undesired interruptions in case of rupture.

Control System with |
|
- large dimension cabinet |
- reduced dimension cabinet housing the processors only |
|
- “spare I/O” located inside the control board far from the equipment |
- “spare I/O” installed on the machinery close to the equipment |
|
- kilometres of multi-cables with large and heavy external ducting |
- no multi-cables and reduced dimension ducting and only for the serial two-wire |
|
- shutdown of entire board due to failure of one single board; complete plant shutdown |
- shutdown of single apparatus due to failure of single board; the rest of the plant continues operation |
|
- complete shutdown of board for maintenance; plant shutdown |
- maintenance performed on single apparatus; no down-times |
User interface is catered for by a “Scada” software connected to a control system with double Ethernet network and to the plant “DCS” through an “OPC Server” that monitors all the safety parameters such as pressure, water temperature and chemicals dosing, either locally or by remote control from the plant dcs.
Overall surveillance is ensured via continuous acquisition and registration of the process data and appropriate visual and appropriate alarms, with stop/ready control, which signal eventual failures.
An Integrated control system installed on the Ansaldo Energia Demi plant, is an integral part of a complete “Turn-Key” system, custom designed according to the customer’s specific technical requirements: also defined as “open” system it offers unlimited possibilities as it interfaces with the existing plant allowing for future expansions.
Nowadays the market demands particular competence in the design and control of complex system. The most important factor is the capability to integrate heterogeneous elements still maintaining an adequate global vision. That means, the ability to link the peculiarity of single components’ operations with the performance of the entire system. This unique technical culture is further enhanced by the attention, just as important on a professional scale, paid to the economical, managerial and human aspects.
