ASM BRESCIA TRUSTS BONO ENERGIA FOR THE SUPPLY OF A NEW DISTRICT HEATING POWER STATION

31-03-2008

ASM, one of the main Italian companies operating in the district heating, electricity and gas, awarded BONO ENERGIA with contracts for the construction of two heating plants for the towns of Brescia and Bergamo, for the production of superheated water addressed to the respective district heating networks.

ASM, founded in 1908 in Brescia (Italy), is the most important firm in Brescia and Bergamo’s districts for the supply of public utility services (electricity distribution, gas, district heating, integrated water cycle and municipal solid waste integrated cycle). First in Italy at the beginning of the 70s, it has realized a district heating network capable of serving the whole city of Brescia. Since the end of the 90s, the energy distributed in the city has been produced by the heat recovered from municipal solid wastes incineration, whose integration with the district heating network values Brescia as a worldwide known case for environmental sustainability and energy saving.

ASM has recently started the construction of two plants for the production of superheated water, consisting of two boilers per site, rating 40MW each, and two heat exchangers between the primary fluid and the district heating water. The two plants have been located in the “North site” of Brescia and in the “Goltara site” of Bergamo.

BONO ENERGIA, counting on several important references in the  district-heating sector (AEM Milano, AEM Torino, Moulhouse City in France, EDF CNET in Vietnam, CERN of Geneve, Malpensa, Linate, Roma-Fiumicino Airports etc), has developed a particular and innovative design – CTH boilers – that has been already successfully used in other plants worldwide.

The unique design of BONO CTH district heating boilers allows a package type construction up to 40 MW, while a “site erected” solution is possible up to 80 MW capacity. Expressly optimised for the two ASM’s projects, two of the four boilers have been located in the old co-generation plant of Brescia, while the other two have been sited in a new district heating station in Bergamo, in a package configuration. In Brescia, due to logistic constraints, BONO’s workshop has supplied the boilers in three main parts: convective section, radiant section and air preheater. The single parts have been locally assembled by qualified personnel.

BONO ENERGIA has realized “turn key” plants, including engineering service, construction, factory inspections, transportation, assembly, installation, start-up by qualified commissioning engineers.

The boilers located in Bergamo have been fitted with two burners, while those located in Brescia have one burner each. High performance with respect to environmental emissions, noise, “turn down”, thermal capacity, easy operation and maintenance, as they will be managed and monitored by highly sophisticated electronic systems, engineered and supplied by BONO ENERGIA, specifically for district-heating applications.

The two plants have been realized in close cooperation between BONO ENERGIA and ASM technical staff, according to current European norms and to the strictest quality and environmental standards.

The boilers, already functioning, have contributed to the district heating of Brescia and Bergamo during last winter and the customer has expressed his complete satisfaction for the product performances and for the services offered by BONO ENERGIA.
