NESTE OIL’s strategy is based on its ability to use its unique refining expertise for lower-emission traffic fuels from a broad range of low-cost feedstocks. Specialization and deep expertise are seen as central to the success of a small oil company like NESTE OIL in the competitive international marketplace. The company is active in the Oil & Gas sector including the REFINING, SPECIALTY PRODUCTS (production & marketing of oil intermediates), SHIPPING, BIODIESEL (NExBTL - second generation technology for renewable diesel production), OIL RETAIL (sales and marketing for refined products through unattended gas stations). The Company operates on a world wide base with subsidiary in Europe, North America and Asia. Refining 15 million/t of oil products per year, with a turnover of 15 billion euros in 2007 and 5,700 people, NESTE OIL invested lot of resources for the 170,000 t/y NExBTL plant in PORVOO refinery in Finland that will be completed within 2009. This is the corner stone for the expansion of the activities in the NExBTL green diesel production sector in Rotterdam and Singapore. The estimated greenhouse gas emissions for the entire product life cycle are 40–60% lower than those of fossil diesels and the product reduces also other tailpipe emissions. Singapore plant (rating 800,000 t/y biodiesel production) shall be completed within 2010 and the overall investment cost shall be approx. 550 M€, while Rotterdam plant, rating the same capacity, shall be completed within 2011 with an investment of 670 M€. TECHNIP, a leading world class EPC has been awarded for the contract related to the construction of above mentioned two sites refineries, selected BONO ENERGIA as thermal fluid heater supplier.
The choice was endorsed by the good mutual satisfaction for the supply of thermal fluid heaters and boilers in the past twenty years.
BONO ENERGIA shall supply thermal fluid heaters type HTH working at extremely high temperatures (395°C) as “the hart of the system” for the hydrogenization of animal and vegetable fats needed to (NExBTL) NESTE innovative process for bio-diesel production.
The HTH (High Temperature Heaters) shall operate with natural gas, BIO-gas and TAIL-gas coming as by-products from the process.
This sophisticated combustion system shall grant very high thermal efficiency, very low emissions and great production flexibility on top of reduced operating costs along the whole production chain of NExBTL process. The HTH 7.6 MW heaters shall be supplied according to the proven but innovative SBFH (Squared Box Fired Heaters) offering several functional and maintenance advantages. This design was patented by BONO ENERGIA. API 560 guidelines shall be followed for the construction of the heaters. BONO ENERGIA, thanks to their proven technology to supply thermal fluid heaters, were able to support the customer with effective and innovative solutions to the technical challenges proposed during the negotiation phase.
