On the 27th of May 2010 the first Bono Sistemi full turn-key biomass co-generation plant has been inaugurated at Calenzano, few kilometres far from Florence.
The plant, the first one in the centre/south area of Italy based on ORC (Organic Rankine Cycle) technology, will supply 800 electrical kW/h to the national grid and  3.500 thermal kW/h as hot water to the 5.200 m municipal district heating network of Calenzano. The fuel will be 12.000 ton/annum of virgin wood.
Mrs. Anna Rita Bramerini, Energy end Environmental Alderman of Tuscany Regional Council attending the event, underlined in her intervention how the plant reaches two main targets: the valorisation of natural resources entirely available in the region (forest and green public maintenance as well as agricultural residuals) and the respect of the Italian national program for a distributed power generation net through the realisation of many sustainable medium / low power plants based on renewable energies.  

Promoter and owner of the plant is the Company Biogenera S.r.l. summarising in its shareholding structure three complementary functions leading a biomass energy business: Estra Clima, a multi-utility Company selling energy and services and managing the plant, Calenzano Municipal Council as main user of the district heating and Quadrifoglio, as one of the biomass supplier, because active in public green maintenance of Florence.   
Biogenera represented for Bono Sistemi a key reference project boosting brand new orders now under construction in Italy:
La Thuile (Aosta), wood based ORC co-generation plant – 600 kW/h electrical / 3.000 kW/h thermal as district heating to be completed on summer 2010.
Treglio (Chieti), a mix of wood and olive husk based ORC power generation plant – 1.000 KW/h electrical to be completed on spring 2011.
All those plants will benefit of the special green Italian tariff 280 €/MW electrical reserved to biomass energy plants sized  within 1.000 kW/h of power generation.
