Unique process advantages, new developments, wider range of foam grades, excellent quality, global acceptance by slabstock producers and chemical suppliers confirm the success of this innovative foaming technology.
Liquid Carbon Dioxide blowing technology is now a well-accepted processing method for Polyurethanes, and it is a well-known fact that CarDio™ was the first process using liquid CO2 to expand slabstock foams, and the first to go in industrial production. It has sold more units than of all its competitors combined, with twice as many in production.. It is the only suitable solution for using fillers, high-solid polymer polyols and mineral pigments. Due to its patented laydown device it does not require a flat top device, at an additional cost, to get good square blocks. And it is the only one adopted by three major raw material suppliers for their development laboratories: CarDio™ users can, in fact, run with several formulations and are not limited to chemicals supplied by one company.
However, we are not here to talk about the past achievements: our policy of innovation and continuing research has not been slowed by the fierce competition of other processes. A lot of other improvements have taken place with the CarDio™ process over the last few months. The mechanics behind the formation of its typical cell structure that provides a nice "feel" and interesting mechanical properties to the foam are now better understood.
The latest achievements include:
- a pressure-adjustable laydown device to cover a wider range of foam outputs and of the load of blowing agent: it allows for the addition of the widest achievable percentage range of liquid Carbon Dioxide percentage to the formulations without stoppage for mixing head adjustments;
- an optimized design of various components, that has eliminated the formation of large cells (pinholes) and allows gaseous CO2 to also be metered;
- CarDio™ Blend, a compact testing device for quick control of the foam density when trying new percentages of LBBAs (Low Boiling point Blowing Agents) and other components in a formulation.
The results of these new developments convinced Cannon to re-define the range of available solutions for new and retrofitted slabstock plants - and to name it CarDio™ - 2000. It is the second generation of a young, successful process, and is the result of more than three years of industrial experience in this field. It will be made available to new and existing users of the CarDio™ process. Ask us for details!
CarDio™ is a Registered TradeMark of Cardio BV.
