Insulated sectional elements for garage folding doors are becoming more and more popular where energy saving measures are applied seriously to every part of a building.
Built in various sizes, shapes, surface options (including embossed surfaces and wood imitation versions) they may contain optional componenst such as small windows, handles, safety accessories.
This complex mix of variables, including the fact that often these products are manufactured upon a specific order and customised, requires a very flexible manufacturing system. Stock must be reduced to minimum levels, delivery times must be prompt, and the finished products must be perfect.
Cannon Drum Units proved to be the ideal response to these requirements. Special models with long mouldcarrier platens (up to 6,000 mm ) are available for different types of panels. Depending on the production capacity needs, they can feature 4,5 or 6 mouldcarriers.
Since all these different types of panel need some time for the pre-assembly/preparation before foaming - and usually they are prepared on some sort of trays - the Drum Unit in this case is normally equipped with one unloading/ preparation table at each side, right and left, of the service station.
In this case, when the mould-carrier is automatically opened at the service station, the tray with the foamed panel is automatically transferred to the empty preparation table, and from the other side the tray with the pre-assembled panel, ready to be foamed, is automatically transferred inside the empty mould-carrier. By doing so the Drum Unit does not waste cycle time and the operators can prepare the panels moving from one table to the other table.
A 6-mouldcarriers version with a linear circulation of the panel trays (see the picture, above) is available for high productivity cycles. In this case a single preparation table, with very fast automatic adjustment of the panel's dimensions, according to the set production schedule, is placed just before the pre-heating oven: here the pre-assembled metal sheets are brought to the right temperature prior to their transfer into the foaming/polymerisation cavity, within the drum unit.
